Staff Picks

Hello! Welcome to the new Musos blog series, Staff Picks! In this series, one of our staff members will pick their top 3 recommended songs from the Musos catalog and share why these songs are so amazing! Enjoy our first 3 picks from intern Olivia Gonzalez

Pick #1: A Day Like Today - Chrishira Perrier

This song is so fun to listen to! The retro feel makes you want to move and dance along, and the lyrics give off such a carefree, free-spirited vibe.

The instrumentation also adds to this song’s message of love and individuality; the organ, guitar, horns, and background harmonies aid in creating the imagery that Chrishira is painting with her voice and lyrics. The image of unity and love is very powerful, and this song does a wonderful job conveying that. I love the positive message in this song.

Pick #2: Dreaming - Tansy

This playful song portrays the image of longing and wishful thinking in wanting a relationship to work. Tansy’s bright vocals aid in creating a sense of hope and imagination, building a beautiful dreamscape filled with love, fun, and dancing. The keys and guitar play off of each other when the guitar starts a fun solo at 2:17. If you aren’t swaying along to the song at that point, you will definitely want to start dancing at the last hook. This song is full of reflection, longing, love, and confidence, and every part of the recording helps portray that.

Pick #3: Late September - Daniel Morrow

This indie rock song is filled with reflective lyrics, and simple instrumentation. Regardless of its minimalistic arrangement, ‘Late September’ is filled with emotion: confidence, positivity, and looking forward. As the song progresses, harmonies build, the drums build, bass gets added, and the guitars get wilder. It really conveys the deep emotion and the story told by the lyrics. This song is heart-wrenching and relatable, and will leave you headbanging like there's no tomorrow.
