Staff Picks May 2022

Hello! Welcome to another installment of Staff Picks! In this series, one of our staff members will pick their top 3 recommended songs from the Musos catalog and share why these songs are so amazing! Enjoy 3 picks from intern Olivia Gonzalez:

‘Ticking Away’ by Sozi

This song opens with an introspective spoken word, and then gets into a very fun groove, with lyrics reflecting about the connection between love and time. Sozi’s rhythm and lyricism will make you want to move along to the song, as well as singing along. The hook at the end grabs your attention, and the song ends beautifully with a few chimes signaling time passing by.

‘Never Be’ by Ethan Tucker

This song is super gritty, funky, and will make you want to dance. The instrumentation entices the listener, and the guitar riff that occurs throughout the song keeps a hold of you. Ethan’s vocal tone and lyrics to a fantastic job at telling a story. I personally cannot help but head-bang to this entire song.

‘Where Do I Belong’ by Sara Syms

‘Where Do I Belong’ is a very lighthearted song, discussing finding the need to fit in and finding your way in life. The light instrumentation and Sara’s vocals really aid the message of the song to be told in a fun way, allowing the listener to connect to the story and lyrics. I particularly like the instrumentation and the addition of the organ. It does so much for the tonality of the song.
